Explore over 140 years of M&S

Featuring unique artefacts, historic garments, films and photographs from the archive collection, our exhibition tracks the journey of M&S from market stall to Penny Bazaar to international retailer. M&S is woven into the fabric of the UK – from the clothes we wear to the food we eat.

Which of your M&S favourites will you discover?

With new displays and interactive exhibits, our exhibition is full of opportunities to get closer to the collection and experience the M&S story for yourself. Go shopping in our Penny Bazaar, try on fashions of the past in the Design Studio, take a seat and enjoy our film collection in the cinema area and find out more about the people that make M&S so special.

It’s totally free to visit, the exhibition is open Monday-Friday and the second Saturday of every month 10am-4pm for our family-friendly Sparky Saturday events, we’re closed on bank holidays.

The Archive is on the Western Campus of the University of Leeds, just north of Leeds city centre. We’re located in the Michael Marks Building.
