Roger Stevens Pond

The Roger Stevens Pond is located outside of the Roger Stevens Building. The pond is on a rooftop and was originally built as a cooling pond for the lecture theatres’ air systems, but it is now a living lab for biodiversity research, and home to our favourite heron!
What to expect:
- There are plenty of benches around the pond to sit on.
- The pond is a habitat for various wildlife, including ducks and goldfish.
- It is overlooked by the Waterside Café and the ‘Spirit of Enterprise/Hermes’ bronze sculpture, created by William Chattaway.
- It serves as a site for interdisciplinary research and teaching due to the installed sensors for monitoring water quality and environmental parameters.
