Letters to the Landscape. Denise Startin

Letters to the Landscape is an epistolary dialogue and travelogue exploring the relations between Brontë Country and Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. The primary piece of work is a 30-minute cinematic essay incorporating postcards, letters, digital photography, found images and found texts. The narrative film is accompanied by a curated collection of ephemera including postcards, archival photographs, letters, and fieldnotes.

This exhibition is one of the outcomes from practice PhD student Denise Startin, whose project is supervised by Dr Paul Wilson, Dr Louise K Wilson, and Deborah Gardner in the School of Design. The research has been undertaken in consultation with the Brontë Parsonage Museum collection.
